“My Roxbury” is a videopoem/collage of the area and landmarks of Boston’s primary African-American neighborhood of Roxbury, Massachusetts.

“My Roxbury” stimulates discussion about the Roxbury community because it

is a celebration of this historic, culturally rich community and, for some, presents a Roxbury they don’t know.

Set to the song “Optimistic” by The Sounds of Blackness, the video is complemented by a poetic narrative that speaks to the unseen Roxbury.
